How I Fulfill Your Order

Here at Attempted Not Known, we pride ourselves on personally crafting quality comic/objects. But what actually happens when your order reaches our massive business campus?
A mega-corporation I ain’t. Everything I make is by hand, and it’s complicated.

The Comics Cube, for example, starts as a cube with stickers already on it. I buy a bunch of them whenever I run out. You didn’t think I had my own injection molding machines on the factory floor, did you?
I use a complicated, specialized procedure to remove the old stickers. Then I hand-cut and hand-apply my own stickers. It’s very difficult to cut through the top layer without cutting through the backing paper, so I end up with a whole bunch of tiny squares. For each one, I have to find a way to get a knife blade between the sticker and the backing paper. It’s very time-consuming.
All the while, I need to make sure I get the stickers placed properly. Each side represents a color (through images or dialog) and the stickers on each side must be placed in the correct order.

The cube is placed, and then I glue the plastic bubble to the cardboard in a process I can only describe as “difficult, messy, and not very good.” If it stays stuck until it arrives at your door, then you got a good one.

The Cigarette Comic contains 20 individual comic booklets with covers that look like cigarettes in a pack. At one time I did source a few cellophane wrappers from real packs of cigarettes, so that I could take a photo or two of the Cigarette Comic dressed up with a tax stamp and everything. But when you order this product, you’ll get one without the plastic wrapping. It’s…
