The Things I Carry
I draw comics. It’s one of two things I am pretty good at, and arguably it’s the lesser of the two things.
If there is one thing I am best at, it is writing. It is not the thing I love most (though I do love it), but it might be what I was put on Earth to do. I wish I could tell you I write brilliant novels. I wish I could offer to make you laugh and cry. That’s not the kind of writing I do. I am a technical writer and a marketing writer. I write the instructions for the software, web sites, and products you use.
In fact, it’s even less glamorous than that: I write the instructions for the people who are building the software, web sites, and products you use. The programmers read my documents to figure out how to use the tools to build the things you eventually use.
It’s as if I were born to be a tax attorney or a transmission rebuild specialist.
The thing I love more than writing (but am less good at) is drawing comics.
I always have with me one or both of these two kits so that I can draw wherever I am. But I lose motivation and don’t draw (or I am too busy with my technical writing to draw). This year, I am trying to draw more. Much more.
Stay tuned, true believers. And in the mean time, here are a few links for you.
- My Patreon (currently featuring my graphic novella Una Ricerca di Pizza, drawn with the larger kit, above)
- Vidrio Cafe, my on-again, off-again comic about whatever just happened (drawn with the smaller kit, above)
- Attempted Not Known, my repository for longer comics and experimental work
